We at BC Goldendoodles are small hobby breeders with professional ethical practices. We strive to do the best for our dogs and our puppy families.
I discovered Goldendoodles for the first time in 2005. I had always loved golden retrievers but was terribly allergic to them. I loved their look, and loving personalities. They seemed to encompass everything I had wished for in a dog. So when I learned that the mix of a standard poodle and a golden retriever most often created a “hypoallergenic” dog, my search was on!
At the time I could only find 2 goldendoodle breeders. One refused us as a family citing that we had young children and she was afraid they would pull on the dog’s tail or ears and cause damage. The other refused to answer my questions and sounded like a puppy mill. So I took my search abroad. We found ZsaZsa (a first generation goldendoodle F1) in Kansas and had her flown to Seattle, where we drove to pick her up. She was a lovely girl who was so calm and sweet. It seemed that she could live off love alone. I had intended to breed her so that families like us would have a 3rd option in BC. Sadly at the age of 2 ZsaZsa developed epilepsy and so we had her spayed as that was the ethical thing to do for her.
Fast forward 8 years we started to search again for another female to fulfill my dream of providing puppies to deserving families like mine. We found Tallulah (a second generation F1b) a gorgeous blue black goldendoodle, with a soft teddy bear coat. Her DNA testing showed that she did not carry any of the genetic health risks for either retriever or poodle ancestors. We have been diligent to mate her with other healthy genetically tested studs who are not related to her. This means a lot of travelling, because it seems many BC doodles are related.
Tallulah has been a wonderful mom. She is very attentive and knows how to take her pups through each stage effectively. We find our puppies have brought a great amount of love, joy and healing to our carefully chosen families. We have even provided multiple pups to the same families over the years and many others have recommended our puppies to family and friends.
Our goal is to produce happy, healthy, well adjusted dogs for loving and safe families like yours.
